History
First mooted in spring 2004 by a group of like-minded individuals in a pub at Penkull (the exact name escapes me). Ideas firmed up in the Travellers Rest at Stanley, shortly afterwards, and we decided to go for it. After a short search for suitable premises (had to be close to a pub) we found the Methodist Church Hall, Endon (several pubs strategically placed).
Other members soon joined (some of whom we didnt meet in a public house), and thee rest as they say is history, not that we can remember much of it...
The club has grown from the original 10 members, currently having around 20, many of whom attend every week. The SMMC is also a branch of the IPMS UK.
Objectives
The club was formed with a few simple aims: -
All club members, regardless of age or abilities are encouraged to submit models for the show table.
Any members are welcome to help with the running of the club, from show table set up to the most important job of all - brewing the tea!
There is only one real rule - HAVE FUN - it's just a hobby!
